Mainflashes Maine Coons

Hello, my name is Gretta Woodward, I am the owner of Maineflashes Maine Coon Cattery. I am a Christian lady, wife, mother and grandmother. Our cattery was founded in 1985. Since 1993 we have been registered with The Cat Fanciers of America and The International Cat Association. In our cattery there are traditional Maine Coons and polydactyls. Polydactyls are Maine Coons with extra toes. For many years I have been importing exotic, gorgeous Maine Coons from Europe to give our bloodline some wilder Maine Coon qualities and so not to interbreed this beautiful breed, but to make it more beautiful and exotic. When you google Maine Coon cats you should keep some information in mind while researching the breed. The price of Maine Coons is going to vary according to their quality. When you get one of our babies your getting the very best quality. Not all Maine Coons are the same. Our kittens are of the best quality available and the largest size.

Are all Maine Coons the same?
All Maine Coons are not the same and it depends on the bloodlines. For example an elite, well managed Maine Coon bloodline, males can be around 28-32lbs and females are around 18-26lbs. A cheaper bloodline approach could produce males as small as 12-14lbs and females 10-12lbs. Maineflashes Maine Coons Cattery does not cut corners and we provide strong bloodlines to ensure heathy offspring.

What is the life expectancy of a healthy Maine Coon kitten?
A Maine Coons life expectancy has variables, just like any other species. A healthy Maine Coon kitten with a healthy bloodline and parents whom have been fed quality food, including vitamins and been provided love and attention, can live for 17-20 years.

How do you tell how big a kitten is going to be?
The size of the kitten's paw, unless it is a polydactyl, will give you a good measure of how big your baby will get. Big paws mean a big adult. A polydactyl means the kitten/cat has more than the usual number of toes on one or more of its paws.

Can anyone sell Maine Coon Cats and say they are a breeder?
Sadly, yes, any person can say they are a breeder because there are no rules and Maineflashes Maine Coons encourages people to do their homework. Gretta is glad to be of assistance and only wants the best for her kittens and adults.

Do all Maine Coons have lynx tips on their ears?
Not all Maine Coon cats have dark colors on the tips (called lynx) of their ears. A Maine Coon cat may or may not have lynx tips at all and others have very exotic looking lynxs. If this is something you are looking for, contact Maineflashes Maine Coons and we can make sure the parents bloodlines are compatible. On our website we show images of our parents and our Facebook social media is very helpful too.

What age should you neuter/spay a kitten?
Neutering or spaying a cat should never be done before 6 months and should actually be done at 7-10 months because of their growth plates. Doing this injustice, spaying or neutering too early, to these beautiful animals is harmful and can cause them to become crippled. Maineflashes Maine Coons is mindful of our cats and kittens and health is a priority.
